Tantra

A path of union between the body, the heart and consciousness

What is Tantra?

Yab-Yum, a Buddhist tantric representation of the union of masculine and feminine, symbolizing embodied meditation, breath yoga, and awareness of relationship and energy.

Yab-Yum :

between a Buddha (masculine principle) and a Dakini (feminine principle).

Although it carries multiple meanings, the word Tantra can be translated as “rules”… but also as “to weave.” It therefore refers to ways of connecting.

Tantra is an ancient spiritual tradition, originating from the Himalayan regions of India.

It brings together a wide range of teachings, texts, rituals, yogic practices, and initiatory methods that have influenced many traditions, including Hinduism, Taoism, and Buddhism.

Its exact origins remain uncertain, but most sources place its emergence between the 5th and the 7th century.

A living path of transformation

In this path, the universe is understood to rest on two complementary and opposite principles: the masculine (Consciousness) and the feminine (Energy).

Tantra invites us to unite these within ourselves, not as an idea, but as a living experience, an inner reconciliation that unfolds through the body.

It is a path of transformation of the human being, one that moves through the body and lived experience.

To support this awakening of awareness, Tantra offers practices that activate masculine and feminine energies, allowing them to meet, move, and dance together.

It also invites us to observe and welcome everything that moves through us - emotions, sensations, thoughts - gradually loosening the inner tensions that limit our freedom.

From traditional Tantra to Neo-Tantra

Over time, Tantra has evolved into more modern forms, often referred to as Neo-Tantra.

These approaches make Tantra more accessible, while keeping its essential intention: to reconnect body, awareness, and relationship.

At Men’s Hearts, this approach is rooted in what we call French Neo-Tantra, where connection, consent, and relationship come first.

It is not about following a system, but about creating a space where experience becomes real, embodied, and shared between men.

An experience of unity and awareness

Based on the understanding that everything is connected, Tantra can be experienced in many ways: with a partner, with nature, with an emotion, with a presence, or even with the whole universe itself.

Tantra teaches us to welcome life in its entirety.

Little by little, energy begins to circulate, and a new quality of relationship emerges, more free, more conscious, and more embodied.

It becomes a path of union: bringing together heaven and earth within oneself, spiritualizing matter and grounding spirituality in the body.

Tantra, a path to connect all that is

Ardhanarishvara, a Hindu representation of the union of Shiva and Shakti, illustrates the tantric path as a living meditation connecting body, energy, and consciousness.

If you would like to explore Tantra further, you will find many articles about Tantra, gay Tantra, and Men’s Hearts on the blog.

These texts invite you to deepen your understanding of connection, and to explore how Tantra can be lived as a way to connect with yourself, with others, and with life as a whole.

Tantra, a path to connect all that is

You don’t need any experience.

You don’t need to know anything.

You just need curiosity.

This approach is rooted in a modern form of Tantra, often called French Neo-Tantra, where connection, consent, and relationship come first.

Whether you feel open, shy, experienced, or new… you are welcome.

"If you are aware, you will realize that sexuality is not just sex.

Sex is the outer layer; deeper inside, there is love…

Even further inside, there is prayer…

And ever deeper within, there is the divine.

Sex can become a cosmic experience. That's why we call it Tantra."
