Why do straight men join Men’s Hearts gay men Tantra retreats? 🤔🧔

Masculine man standing alone, illustrating an article about straight men exploring gay Tantra with Men’s Hearts.

You may already have guessed that this article is a little different from the others.

When I created Men’s Hearts, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to introduce Tantra through a gay perspective without creating a closed community where only gay and bisexual men would feel welcome.

And from the very beginning of this adventure, several straight men have trusted the Men’s Hearts team and me enough to step into this experience with us.

Which naturally raises a question.

Why would a straight man choose to join a gay Tantra retreat?

There is no single answer. Every man arrives with his own story, his own questions and his own reasons.

Some men come to Men’s Hearts after years of heterosexual relationships because they have started questioning their attraction to men. Others have felt a desire or curiosity for a long time but have never really allowed themselves to explore it.

Tantra offers them a very different way of approaching this.

Instead of going directly into a sexual encounter through an app or a cruising space, they can explore attraction, intimacy and connection between men in a clear and respectful environment.

Nothing needs to be proved. Nothing needs to happen.

They can move at their own pace, listen to what they feel and discover whether this desire really belongs to them.

For other straight men, the question is not about sexual orientation at all.

Some already have a long experience of Tantra in mixed groups or men’s groups. At some point, they become less interested in gender and more interested in the person, the energy and the quality of the encounter they are experiencing in that moment.

Joining a gay Tantra retreat can then become another way of exploring themselves and continuing their Tantric path.

Some men also feel more comfortable beginning this exploration among men.

Their personal history or their relationship with women can make mixed Tantra difficult for them. Being surrounded by men can offer another space in which to explore intimacy, vulnerability, sensuality and connection without immediately falling back into the roles they usually know.

In a group of gay, bisexual and queer men, masculine and feminine qualities can also be explored with greater freedom.

You do not have to be one thing.

Strong or soft. Masculine or feminine. Giving or receiving.

Tantra invites us to discover how all these dimensions can coexist within us.

This is also one of the reasons some straight men come to Men’s Hearts and to gay men Tantra.

They want to explore another relationship with masculinity. One that leaves room for tenderness, sensuality, touch, vulnerability and desire between men without needing to define immediately what any of it means.

And then there are men who have grown up in very traditional or macho environments where homosexuality was mocked, rejected or feared.

Some of them have become aware that these attitudes no longer fit the person they want to be.

Coming into a group of gay men can then become a powerful experience.

Not because anyone needs to change their sexual orientation, but because meeting what once felt unfamiliar can help dissolve fear, prejudice and distance.

For a man engaged in a spiritual path, this can be deeply meaningful.

How can we speak about love, openness and connection while keeping entire parts of humanity at a distance?

The straight men who join Men’s Hearts bring something unique to our groups.

Their presence allows us to explore questions that go far beyond sexual orientation.

What does it mean to be a man?

Where does attraction begin and where does identity end?

What happens when we stop putting people into boxes?

What are we afraid of when another man comes close?

And how much freedom becomes possible when we allow ourselves to meet another human being without immediately having to define the experience?

This is very close to what Tantra means to me.

Meeting difference.

Welcoming it.

Allowing it to touch us.

And discovering a little more of ourselves through the encounter.

I feel deeply grateful to the straight men who have trusted Men’s Hearts enough to enter this space.

I admire their curiosity and their willingness to question what they thought they already knew about themselves, about other men and about intimacy.

So if you are straight, curious, questioning, or simply drawn to the idea of exploring connection between men in another way, you are welcome.

You do not need to know exactly why you are coming.

You do not need to define yourself differently.

You simply need to come as you are.
